A bit about our founder – Dan
Dan is the founder and director of Dogsbody Technology, taking the pain away from building, securing and maintaining Linux and Cloud infrastructure.
He founded the company in 2003 because he wanted to play with bigger and more complex infrastructure than he could afford at the time. Many years later he’s now hiring staff that also have the same passion.
In 2012 he started an apprenticeship program which tied in perfectly with his desire to start teaching the things he has learned over his career. He’s incredibly proud that many apprentices have now completed their apprenticeship with Dogsbody and every single one has stayed for many years afterwards.
Dan has worked in IT for more years than he cares to remember and has LOVED seeing the technologies change over the years.
He used to be an avid roller skater having competed in the Le Mans 24 hour (on skates) and skated from London to Brighton more than once. Yes, really!
Over five years he organised the Goodwood Roller Marathon; taking the event from 120 people in 2006 to 1400 people in 2011 and raising over £160,000 for charities all over the UK.
Our skillsets
SysAdmin – A lot of companies have the development skills in-house to build the sites or tools they need but don’t have the ability to put them online in a secure way. Let us worry about the system administration of your server. We will ensure it is locked down, patched and as secure as possible so that you can concentrate on your customers and development.
Cloud Computing – You may want servers that you can turn on and off at the drop of a hat, or storage requirements that can grow as you do. Let us guide you and show you the differences between AWS (Amazon Web Services), GCP (Google Cloud), Azure and all the other providers, so you can make decisions that are right for you.
Virtual Machines – Modern computing has bought us disposable computing meaning providers like Linode and Digital Ocean can provide small, quick instances that are perfect for development work. This infrastructure can be used for anything from constant integration to agile hosting environments.
Security – Without exception, the team is a combination of BPSS and SC security cleared.
Get us involved at any point in the process. From design through planning, development, testing, deployment and support. We have the skills and experience needed to get the job done.

At Christmas, whilst we love our customers, rather than buying them presents, we contribute the same funds to the local food bank. We think that means much more.
We believe in the spirit of apprenticeship
Not everyone is academic. Schools aren’t always the best place to teach modern computing and engineering techniques. Apprenticeships give a fantastic opportunity for students and employers… especially for a growing business, like ours.
